Aerospace applications are among greatest challenges for Brandenburger ablation materials. For example, Brandenburger ablation material has been used as protective panelling for the launch pad and holding arms at the launching facilities of the Ariane space rockets. Brandenburger ablation material is also used, e.g., as combustion chamber insulation on rockets, as deck protection e.g. on corvettes, and for general object protection against extreme short-term stress caused by streaming gases.
The materials provide effective protection against thermal overload and the possible consequential damage. Brandenburger materials in this field excel in particularly by their outstanding insulation properties, their good ablation characteristics even with complex geometries, and by its suitability for casting.
